Ritver offers a variety of hardeners for use with its 2K acrylic automotive paints and clear coats. These hardeners, also known as catalysts or activators, are a necessary component for chemically curing the paint to create a strong, durable, and glossy finish. Ritver hardeners for car paintRitver provides hardeners with different drying speeds to suit a variety of application conditions.
  • 2k Hardener Fast HS (High Solid): This fast-drying hardener is ideal for use at lower temperatures. According to Ritver Paints & Coatings, it is specifically formulated for their 2K acrylic topcoats and clear coats.
  • 2k Hardener Fast MS (Medium Solid): This is a fast-drying hardener formulated for use with Ritver 2K acrylic topcoats and clear coats at lower temperatures.
  • 2k Hardener Slow HS (High Solid): This is a slow-drying hardener formulated for use with Ritver 2K acrylic topcoats and clear coats at normal temperatures.
How to choose the right hardenerTo select the correct hardener for your Ritver automotive paint project, consider the following:
  • Paint type: Confirm that you are using a two-component (2K) acrylic system, as these hardeners are not compatible with single-stage paints that do not require a separate hardener.
  • Temperature: Choose a hardener based on the ambient temperature during the painting process.
    • Fast hardeners are suitable for lower temperatures, as they speed up the drying process.
    • Slow hardeners are ideal for warmer conditions, which helps prevent the paint from drying too quickly and causing application issues like brush marks.
  • Manufacturer instructions: Always check the specific mixing ratio and instructions on the technical data sheet for your particular Ritver paint and hardener combination.
How to use Ritver hardenersAccording to Ritver Paints & Coatings and general auto paint best practices, follow these steps for proper application:
  1. Prepare the surface: Ensure the surface is properly sanded, degreased, and primed before mixing any paint.
  2. Refer to the technical data sheet (TDS): Check the manufacturer's TDS for the exact mixing ratio for your specific paint and hardener combination.
  3. Mix carefully: Pour the paint into a mixing container, followed by the hardener, according to the specified ratio. Stir thoroughly for at least two minutes, making sure to scrape the sides and bottom of the container.
  4. Strain the mixture: For spray applications, strain the mixture into your spray gun to remove any impurities or unmixed lumps.
  5. Apply and cure: Follow the application and drying time recommendations from the product's TDS.
Remember that hardeners react with atmospheric moisture, so always keep the containers tightly closed and store them in a cool, well-ventilated area.
