Let Seven Sands Take You on a Gastronomic Journey of Emirati heritage

21/04/2015

Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC) today announced the launch of Seven Sands, a new restaurant featuring authentic Emirati cuisine with a contemporary take. Located at The Beach opposite JBR, the exciting all-day dining concept serves breakfast, lunch and dinner as well as a café and shisha lounge on the terrace featuring picturesque views of the Arabian Sea.

Representing culinary delights from across the seven Emirates and bringing together the unique history of each, Seven Sands invites guests to sample homely Emirati pancakes Choubab or Mohalla which is fragrant saffron flavoured crepes stuffed with sweet vermicelli (balaleet) served with a date syrup, honey and cheese.

Dating back to the pearl diving days, guests can enjoy recipes that have stood the test of time and have been recreated to celebrate the synergy between modern and tradition. These include Maleh Korse, a fish delicacy served on a bed of sautéed onions, capsicum, mushrooms and parsley, served with a garden-fresh rocca salad.

Headed up by Executive Chef Rabah Samra, a highly talented chef with over 24 years’ experience, Seven Sands is set to ignite visitors and residents’ curiosity and passion for local cuisine.

Chef Samra said:
“We are proud to bring decades of Emirati cuisine to life with the opening of Seven Sands. Representing our tribute to this great and diverse nation and the roots of the U.A.E, guests will be able to sample our blend of modern and inspired dishes, which is sure to be an unforgettable dining experience.”

For the main course, guests can devour delicacies infused with the intense homemade bezar spice blend found in most Emirati households, including kibbeh al bezar, a baked kibbeh filled with minced lamb meat, pine seeds and almonds, infused with bezar and wrapped bezar prawns fried with vermicelli (balaleet) dough.

Culinary enthusiasts can also feast on Thereed, a Bedouin stew originally from the Arabian Gulf. Seven Sand’s version of thereed is cooked with potatoes, pumpkin, marrow and tomatoes, seasoned with saffron, cardamom, cinnamon and ginger. The menu also includes Fouga, Aishu Laham, Jisheed and succulent chargrilled options.
For those with a sweet tooth, Seven Sands serves a range of desserts including the ancestral-rooted khabeesa made of crumbled roasted semolina flour, sugar, ground cardamom, rose water, saffron and garnished with cashew nuts and sultanas.

The restaurant also houses a two floor history wall of approx.150 square meters that pictorially narrates the growth of the country from a pearl diving outpost to the cosmopolitan vibrant hub it is today. In addition to that, the upstairs terrace provides guests with an expansive view of the Arabian Gulf.

Seven Sands is open every day from 8am to 1am (2am on weekends).
